Tips for Enjoying Your Spa this Fall

When many people think of spas, they think of enjoying them on warm summer evenings. Many people drain their hot tubs for the fall and winter months, not using them again until late spring. If this is you, it may be time to reconsider. After all, the health and relaxation benefits of spa use are seasonless. Here are a few tips to make sure that you can keep enjoying your spa, even as we move into autumn and the weather turns cooler.

Do your maintenance now. We promise you’ll thank us later. It’s much easier to enjoy your spa when you’re not outside working on it in cold, rainy weather.

Keep your head dry. Dunking your head may feel good initially, but in the cool air, having wet hair will give you a chill, even while you’re in a hot tub.

Get a nice robe. Think spa-quality here. A heavy, plush robe can double as a towel and will keep you warm when you go to and from the house.

Pick up a towel warmer. No matter what the temperature is outside, if your towels or robes are on a warmer, they’ll be nice and toasty when it’s time for you to get out.

Keep the spa clean. You’ll be much more relaxed if you aren’t constantly scooping fallen leaves out of the water.

Create a space for belongings. You don’t want your towels, shoes, and other items strewn haphazardly around the spa, nor do you want to leave them in an area where they may be subjected to wet weather.

Maintain the water temperature. This may sound expensive, but if you have a well-insulated spa with a good cover, it costs less to maintain the temperature than it does to let it cool off and heat it up again. Plus, you won’t have to wait for it to warm, so your spa’s ready when you are.

Skip the air jets. Since jets inject the outside air into the tub, having them bring in the cool fall air can quickly lower the temperature of your water by several degrees. If you do use the jets, it’s a good idea to do it for a shorter period of time and to always make sure they are turned off before exiting the spa,

Plan a spa party. Whether its just one or two friends or a few more, inviting people over to use the spa can make it more enjoyable for you, and it ensures that you’re getting out there to enjoy it once in a while, too.

Just use it. You paid for your spa and designed your yard around it. You’ve kept it cleaned and maintained, so go out there and enjoy it this fall!
